Dr. Gopal Named 2008 Physician of the Year
Krishnan Gopal, M.D. has been selected as the Physician of the Year by the medical staff of Bayshore Community Health Services, Holmdel NJ.

"Dr. Gopal is a tremendous asset to the community," says Adrian M. Pristas, M.D., medical staff president. "Since joining our staff in 1984, Dr. Gopal has dedicated himself to elevating the standard of oncology care here at Bayshore. Dr. Gopal’s contributions set the stage for the expert, compassionate cancer treatment we provide at Bayshore today, and his legacy will inspire our future progress as well."

Dr. Gopal will be honored at Bayshore Community Hospital Foundation’s Charity Ball, Bright Lights on Broadway. This annual event will be held on Saturday, October 25 at the Robert B. Meyner Reception Center at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ.

"I am proud that patients in our community need go no further than Bayshore Community Hospital to receive the same, expert oncology care they would receive if they traveled out of state or to other institutions," says Dr. Gopal. "Our oncologists are providing state-of-the-art treatment, yet in the comfortable surroundings of our hospital, and by a team of Bayshore’s own experienced and caring doctors, nurses and staff."

Dr. Gopal received his medical degree from Madurai Medical College in Madurai, India. He completed internship and residencies at Misericordia Fordham Hospital in the Bronx and also at A.C. Logan Memorial Hospital in New York. He completed his fellowship in hematology at Georgetown University Division of D.C. General Hospital in Washington D.C. and completed his medical oncology fellowship at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology.

He is the past chairman of both the Cancer Committee and the Tumor Board at Bayshore Community Hospital. Dr. Gopal is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Dr. Gopal and his wife Indu Gopal, M.D. reside in Colts Neck. They have two children.
